Although the river cave was well lit by scattered torches, Cydonia still had to be careful with where she stepped. After a few turns and nearly slipping on a smooth wet boulder, she found a pair of old stairs leading deeper into the river cave. An iron door was supposed to keep any intruders from advancing, unfortunately, the layers of rust on its hinges prevented it from closing in any way.
Stepping carefully, Cydonia made her way down to the bottom of the stairs. There, she found herself in what appeared to be an abandoned dungeon. The mold on the walls and cracks in the floor were proof enough of its age, but it mattered little to her.
Unless you know what to search for, it would be rather hard to find this place. These sneaky rats found themselves a nice hiding hole! thought Cydonia as she gripped tight on the hilt of her sword.
After she took a deep breath, she stepped forward. No doubt a guard would be posted nearby, and she would have to take care of him fast.
“Intruder! We have an intruder over here!” shouted a man as soon as he spotted the Seraphim.
“Tch!” she clicked her tongue and dashed towards him.
The first thing she noticed about the man was the armor he wore. Despite the bad taste in colors, it had a bit more protection than what the guards outside of the cave had. Even his weapon was far better, he wielded a steel sword, unfortunately for him, he wasn’t as skilled as the Seraphim was. This was proven quickly by the barrage of rapid strikes from her side. The man was unable to dodge or parry even one of those blows and as a result, he fell dead on the floor.
One down, aaand I hope not a lot more to go. Cydonia thought as she looked towards the door on the far side of the room.
“There’s the wench!” shouted another man as he pointed at her.
“How rude.” she said as she took her stance, ready to take that one down as well.
