“Huff! Huff!” Cydonia panted heavily, trying to catch her breath.
The last of the guards in that awful smelling dungeon was finally struck down by her sword. Unfortunately, all of them attacked together, and they proved to be a bit luckier than the other opponents she faced that day. She ended up with cut on her left arm and another on her right thigh. The Seraphim barely managed to avoid getting herself chopped up into pieces, still it wasn’t over yet.
I need a healing potion… she thought as she straightened her back.
“Ouch!” she clenched her teeth and tried to ignore the pain running up her spine.
She had a nasty bruise on her back, going down from her left shoulder all the way to her waist. She received it during her earlier battle when one of the men tackled her into some crates and barrels. They were all smashed upon impact and their smelly contents spread on floor. She had but mere fractions of a second to dodge an incoming attack and then get back on her feet.
Unfortunately for her, those barrels contained trash and other food remains, including rotten fish. As a result, besides those bruises, the Seraphim was “blessed” with a new perfume, the kind that burned her nose upon single sniff. The dungeon itself didn’t smell of spring flowers either, the stale air combined with the mold, old wood, and high humidity made it quite unpleasant to inhale.
When Cydonia left the monastery to search for Novice Nimues, the one thing she forgot to bring with her was a healing potion. Luckily for her, she found three of them on one of the dead guards.
She popped the cork on one and gulped down the red liquid. In a few moments, the substance showed its effects as her pain vanished. Even her bleeding stopped, but it didn’t completely heal her wounds. Those would take some time, but at the very least, she was back to fighting condition.
“Who dares disturb Harkan the Terrible?!” shouted a man wearing a long navy-blue robe as he walked through the door on the other side of the room.
Guess it’s time to meet the one behind the kidnapping… thought Cydonia as she prepared herself for the final battle.
