Note from the Author: Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope you will enjoy the following story. You will find the main characters (humanized) of 100 Luck and the Dragon Tamer Skill! as well as I was reincarnated as a Magic Academy! gather up and spending the Christmas Eve together in Modern Day Romania. In terms of time, let’s say it takes place in a universe where both Illsy and Alkelios lived in the same city, in the same year, and none of them died or was sent to another world.
[Illsyore’s point of view]
“Are you sure this will look good? I don’t want to get up here a fourth time…” I asked while barely keeping my balance on the chair.
I never thought decorating a Christmas tree could be so life-threatening.
“Maybe?” Alina replied with a squeamish smile.
“If I break my neck, it’s your fault!”
“Oh shush! Just a bit to the left… aaand THERE!” she said and then clapped.
“Whew…” I sighed in relief after putting the star on top of our Christmas tree.
It was a big tree, green as it could be and covered in glittering ornaments from root to top. Luck had been on my side when I went to buy it from the market. If I arrived there just a minute later, someone else might have bought it. This year, however, we didn’t need to buy lights and other ornaments for the tree. A bunch was left from the previous year, and Alina always bought some whenever she found something cute to hang on a tree branch, although, there were a few weird ones in there as well, such as chibi military Santas in various poses. One was even poking its tongue out at me.
“It looks great! What do you think?” she asked with a bright smile.
I stared at the tree for a moment, squinting my eyes at it, then my stomach growled.
“That’s my answer.” I told her.
She giggled and lightly punched me in the shoulder. It didn’t actually hurt, but I still reacted to it.
“We can go and prepare the food now. What did your mom say? Is she coming over this year?” she asked as she started to collect the leftover decorations.
They would soon find a place somewhere in our apartment to make the place look a bit more festive. My game and movie posters weren’t enough apparently.
“Not this year. Some of their friends invited them over on an elderly-only vacation to Poiana Brașov, I’m hoping they will drop by for New Years Eve.” I told her and then joined in on decorating our furniture with glittery stuff.
“Is that so? What about your friends from the guild?” she asked raising an eyebrow back at me.
“Marius, I mean Alkelios? Oh, he’s coming over. So is Seryanna, Nanya, Shanteya, and Ayuseya.” I told him.
“You know Aleklios’ real life name, but not the others?” she asked raising an eyebrow back at me.
“I find their in-game names more… erm… attractive?” I told her with a smile.
“Well, I’m sure you let the girls know that your taken.” she told me as she walked over and then gave me a short kiss on the lips.
“I don’t think I’ll need to tell them that. I already left mid-raid when you told me you were feeling horny. I had to farm for their repair money afterwards, but that night with you was worth it!” I grinned.
“Hah! And Iulia said you would never get away from the computer even if I put sexy lingerie on!” she grinned and then hugged me.
I replied with a soft kiss on her lips.
“There is no way I would ever say ‘No’ to something like that! Besides, it’s just a game… we all know that.” I shrugged.
Although I had a reputation for playing a bunch of online games and for quite a while too, I never was one who suffered from game addiction. Can’t say I wasn’t tempted, but I had the inner strength needed to push myself out of those chains, and honestly speaking, there was no regret or bad feeling when I placed Real Life in front of Game Life. Alina was one of my biggest reasons for having that inner strength. She was the beacon I needed to sail across the seas, the love that warmed up my heart, my everything basically.
Besides Alkelios, all the others were girls. Judging by how they behaved in game and sounded over voice chat, I guessed Seryanna was the oldest, Nanya the youngest, Shanteya told me she was working as a secretary, and Ayuseya was the only one who had a strange elegant feel about her. Usually, there weren’t any problems between each other, but Alkelios and Seryanna were always at odds with each other. The number of times these two battled for an item was ridiculous. Worse even, they actually dueled for it afterwards, but surprisingly, they didn’t refuse my invitation for a group meeting.
As for what game we were playing, it was called Dragon Hunt. It was a MMORPG with a player controlled market, lots of NPC activity, lots of mini-games, character customization, PVE content, PVP content, pets, mounts, personal stories, all sort of things. Basically, it was a game that took all the good parts of all the past MMOs and blended it all in a beautiful game. I could probably talk about it for hours at an end, but in short, it gave everything any gamer would want, including massive land, sea, underwater, air, and space battles. On the downside, it required no less than half a terabyte to download and a good PC.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have two computers, so Alina couldn’t join us, but I did make her a low level character on my account, which she could do with it whatever she wanted, including die a lot… She wasn’t a genius gamer, that was certain.
I actually invited more people to join us, but surprisingly, most of them were either with their families or planning on farming a raid. As much as I wanted to join them, still… farming a mmo raids for Christmas Eve?
[Alina’s point of view]
This man was a weird one when it came to many things, but he had his charming points. For tonight only, he insisted on calling him only by his in-game name: Illsyore, but I found it a bit difficult to do so, since I wasn’t used to it. Well, it mattered not, for tonight, I was going to play this little game of his and make him happy.
All of my friends tried to make me give up on him, to abandon him in his time of need, but I couldn’t do something like that. I guess, deep down inside of me, I felt a sparkling hope for him. That was why I didn’t give up on this goofball and stood by his side, pushing through until he was out of that dark place. Honestly, I don’t regret it. I love him very much!
When he asked me if I want to marry him, there was only one answer I could give him: a big ‘YES’ from the bottom of my heart.
I honestly don’t regret it at all… maybe this was fate? I told myself as I looked at my engagement ring.
It wasn’t something extravagant or incredibly expensive, but for me, it was priceless.
Still, now wasn’t the time to worry about this, I had one last thing to do before our guests arrived, and that was the cake!
“Where’s the vanilla?” he asked me.
“Up on the shelf to your right.” I told him.
“Why did you put it up here?” he questioned.
“Because I don’t use it that often. Ah! The small white vial to your left. Yes, that one!” I guided him to the aroma I wanted.
Baking cakes wasn’t a specialty of mine, but once I got my hands on a recipe I liked, I was unstoppable like a raging hurricane! The kitchen looked like it was struck by one too afterwards.
[Nanya’s point of view]
I never go out on Christmas. I never go out on New Years Eve. That was my creed, my doctrine, my ritual. Unfortunately, I happened to break it this year. For what reason, only God could tell, but either way, I decided to make this fun AND have fun. After all, what was the worst that could happen? Get killed by a truck and reincarnate as a lovely demoness who ends up as the wife of a Godlike Dungeon? As if…
Without further ado, I stepped out of the cab and looked towards the rather simple looking apartment building. I was wearing a pair of skin-tight jeans, the winter kind, not the summer kind, so they were a bit thicker. On top, I had a wool blouse of the festive kind, with trees and a small Santa on the left side of my chest. To keep myself from shivering from cold, I wore a winter coat on top.
“Brrr! It’s damn cold!” I said as I walked over to the entrance of the apartment building.
[Ayuseya’s point of view]
This wasn’t my idea, but somehow, I ended up getting caught up in it. If I were to point a finger at the culprit for dragging all of us together like this, that was Alina, Illsyore’s fiance. While we were casually chatting about the winter holidays and past gifts, we ended up agreeing to meet up when she mentioned it. One thing led to another, and here I was, shivering in the cold and waiting for my friend to finish with her phone call. The good part was that we decided on a no-gift policy. We didn’t get them anything, and they didn’t get anything for us in return.
“Sigh!” I looked back and saw Shanteya still talking on her phone with her boss.
“Yes, sir! The file number is 47, yes that one. No, sir… the name was Mehalom, I think. The company? Erm, Fellyore, I think. Yes. Yes. No. Yes. Thank you, sir. I’ll get on it as soon as I get back to the office. Good night, sir, and a Merry Christmas to you too.” she smiled and then ended the call.
“Everything alright?” I asked her.
“ARGH!” she roared to the sky.
It wasn’t surprising to see her like this. Usually, the woman was rather calm, but during a raid, she turned into a raging ogre, especially when we were messing around and got her killed a few too many times. Usually, it was Illsy who calmed her, but nobody else managed to learn of the secret behind this.
[Alkelios/Marius’ point of view]
I could have been spending my Christmas with my parents, but they were thinking of throwing this big, annoying party at a local restaurant, to which only old people would probably join… Thus, I was left with only two options: going to Illsyore’s party or farming a raid in Dragon Hunt. I chose the first one.
Honestly speaking, I sort of didn’t want to go because Seryanna was going too. I never got along with her, and I was 100% certain the one behind the computer was actually a HE using a voice changer program.
Also, if it was a woman, it certainly couldn’t be a beautiful one! Those people didn’t play such games and even if they did they were a rare breed among rare breeds with a boyfriend or husband already.
ARGH! I’m already thinking of hitting on her if Seryanna’s actually a girl?! Stupid brain! I screamed in my mind.
The pains of being single on Christmas Eve was overwhelming…
Letting out a groan, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in. It was about time we met, and surprisingly, I didn’t get lost. Based on my past experiences, if I ever ended up in a forest, I was 100% guaranteed to lose my way in there. Knowing my luck, the first person I would bump into would be Seryanna.
Heh! Imagine that! Me in a forest, all alone, and the first person to bump into would be that jerk! I thought and then looked at my messages from Illsyore.
He sent me the address alongside a bunch of points of interest to look out for. Judging from what was written there and on my maps app, I could conclude that I was in the right neighborhood and standing in front of the right apartment building.
“This is it…” I said and then stepped inside.
[Illsyore’s point of view]
The guests arrived one after another. Seryanna was the first one to knock at our door. Although Marius, I mean Alkelios, always told me that she might be a dude using a voice modification program, I was surprised to find out it wasn’t so. She was a beautiful, tall woman around 21 years old. With bright red, long hair, and a generous bust, she was quite literally a stunning beauty. Alina had to close my mouth when I first saw her. Although, the elbow to the ribs wasn’t what I would call necessary.
To make the package complete, she also had green eyes, but she wasn’t dressed in an elegant dress. Skin-tight blue jeans, a Metallica t-shirt, a brown blouse with a zipper, and a winter coat was her desired ‘dress’ for this occasion.
Nanya on the other hand was far too different from how I imagined her to be like. In my head, I was thinking of a slim, petite, energetic girl, instead I witnessed the arrival of a bombshell. Once again, Alina came to the rescue of my gaping jaw. On the other hand this was her greeting:
“Nyahaha! The great Nanya has arrived!” with her hands on her hips, head leaned back, and a big grin on her face.
To make matters worse, she was BARELY 18… The God above had no mercy or was too generous…
As for Shanteya and Ayuseya, I already knew how they looked like. While Nanya, Seryanna, and Alkelios wanted it to be a surprise, those two directed me to some of their photos. They were stunning beauties as well, which made me heavily wonder just how in the Hell did we all end up in the same guild?
I mean, seriously… they were all above average beauties who loved to play video games. The rarest of rarest of species were literally sitting in my living room right now.
Of course, the last one to arrive was Alkelios.
“Yo!” was his greeting.
“Yo…” I replied.
“This is the place, right?” he asked me.
“Hm, I don’t know… maybe? Do you have a invitation card? What’s your gear? What’s your spec? Are you DPS or Tank?” I asked him with a smirk.
“I’m a rocket ship.” he replied with squinting eyes.
“Good enough!” I laughed and shook his hand.
After inviting him in, I guided him over to the living room and pointed at the hot redhead.
“Alkelios, meet your mortal enemy: Seryanna.” I told him with a grin.
Everyone pulled back and enjoyed the fun. We were all grinning like fools.
