We left the Mehalom Dungeon in a hurry. All the monsters started to act violently as soon as the Dungeon Territory vanished. I couldn’t recall how exactly it was destroyed, but seeing how I woke up after that attack from the High Priest black mage, it was highly possible that it was entirely my fault.
What worried me now was the health of our small survivor. She was barely breathing, and her wounds given by the mages left a bitter taste in my mouth. I was glad they were obliterated from the face of this world, but somehow, I felt guilty for finding her like that. Read More →

“Are we there yet?” I asked a bit bored.
That was the sixth time I asked in the past hour. Nanya was already glaring at me, and Shanteya let out a sigh. Ayuseya only showed me a smile of pity.
We were currently a few kilometers away from Petro town and heading towards Mehalom Ancient Dungeon. The path was clear, and we have been running constantly through the woods to avoid the road. We were using more than 800 points in agility, and we didn’t want to show off our power, yet. I tried picking Shanteya up and carrying her in my arms, since I was faster than her, but Ayuseya remained behind. She had the agility, but she didn’t have the reaction needed for one with her stats. The dragoness princess had much to learn about her current abilities, but so did I.
Thinking about it, I had yet to start training using my abilities. So far, we merely led a normal life, in a matter of speaking. There were no tough challenges, hard battles, or enemies to defeat in the near future, making the need to actually train a bit pointless. My boost was offering the girls more than they could handle already. We could probably take down Dankyun with relative ease right now, but I honestly didn’t want to push my luck with it. All the evil, little Supreme enemies could stay there in their evil dens and let me have my fun. I certainly wasn’t in the mood for any terrain altering battles, my topmost priority was getting to the dungeon, beating the hell out of it, saving who we had to save, then go to the capital and plunder their libraries. It was a good, simple, and modest plan.
“Are we there yet?” I asked again.
Nanya groaned and then shouted back at me “NO!”
I had the weird feeling that I was becoming annoying.
Nah, must be my imagination! I thought and shrugged.
Of course I was annoying, I was bored…
About an hour and a half later, we finally reached to entrance of the famous dungeon. As Nanya instructed me before, I made sure to pull back my Dungeon Territory, since I didn’t want to destroy the core so easily like I did before.
“I didn’t think Illsy could be worse than a little kid.” giggled Ayuseya.
“He’s a brat…” mumbled Nanya.
“I was just bored!” I defended myself.
Shanteya only let out a sigh and stepped closer to the entrance, which was quite fancy if I had to say so myself.
Instead of a cave, we were met with a six meters tall stone archway covered in carved letters. Unfortunately, it was in another language I had no idea how to read or speak. Behind the archway were two statues of a human and a Minotaur facing each other ready to fight. The artwork was impressive, but it wasn’t extremely detailed. After that, we were faced with a pair of huge metal doors covered in various illustration of human men being slain by imps, Minotaurs, and all sort of other monsters. It was a real welcoming gift.
“Impressive.” said Shanteya.
“Meh, I can do better.” I commented.
“Suuure you can.” Nanya squinted her eyes at me in disbelief.
“Either way, this does look dangerous…” said Ayuseya with a bit of worry in the tone of her voice.
“Just keep your Magic Armor up and let me lead the party.” said Nanya, but I was already pushing the doors open.
“Are you coming?” I asked them.
“Ugh… this is going to be a long day.” said Nanya shaking her head.
Once inside we were met with the ever so famous… cave.
“You have got to be kidding me…” I said squinting my eyes at the rock walls.
“For such an impressive entrance, the first floor feels a bit… lacking.” said Ayuseya.
“Actually, this is normal. Only Illsy here is the difference.” pointed out Nanya.
“I don’t see the point in making a cave…” I shrugged.
Stepping inside, we prepared ourselves for the first encounter, whatever it was…
“Kiii!” the giant rat screeched at us.
I lifted my hand up and released a low powered laser beam. It was the kind that I wouldn’t even flinch against, but in case of the low level rat, it went straight through it. Actually it was a bit ridiculous how much of an instant kill it was. The best way to imagine this would be to see a big barbarian with a two-handed axe in each hand attacking a defenseless little bunny.
“Maybe a slap would have sufficed?” I asked myself with a raised eyebrow.
“A slap? Even a flick to the snout would be overpowered!” puffed Nanya. “Since the monsters are so weak, we can use them to train Ayuseya.” she suggested after a moment of thinking.
“I apologize for the trouble.” the draconian princess said with an elegant and small bow of her head.
“No worries! Nyahaha!” Nanya laughed and patted her on the back.
“By the way, do we have to worry about any sort of loot drops?” I asked them.
“Not at this level. We could, however, skin and declaw the beasts we kill if they aren’t of the summoned type. It will only earn us a couple of silverettes, but it’s better than nothing.” Nanya shrugged.
“Should we bother?” I asked raising an eyebrow.
“Nah!” she shook her head and waved it off “After we reach the lower floors, the Minotaurs will give us good loot with their weapons and armors. If there are any skeleton walkers, we can take their armors as well. In general, that’s the junk I sold before, but I heard there are some adventurers that look for various herbs that grow only deep inside dungeons. Tuberculus was one of the types that scrubbed a wall clean of moss before continuing.”
“Sounds like a lot of fun…” I said sarcastically.
“Yeah… So do you want to do the same?” she asked me.
I quickly shook my head, denying the thought of doing something as time consuming as that. I simply didn’t have either the will or the patience to do it, but this gave me some ideas about what to try in the future. If I could grow stuff like that deep within the corridors of my dungeon, then I could teach some alchemy lessons as well, maybe I could even hire someone to do both that and help me grow the ingredients needed for class.
We let Ayuseya do the killing, while Nanya ordered the rules of how she needed to move. I just admired the moss on the walls and the swaying of cute round behinds in front of me.
About one hour and a half later, we finally met our first Minotaur. He didn’t wear any gear, so we kicked his furry behind into a wall and continued with our exploration. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that we literally strolled through, flicking and slapping annoying monsters away from us. Very few managed to reach me. Ayuseya was good at keeping the aggro on her, but one strike was enough to permanently silence any monster there.
After we reached the 35th floor, we encountered our first trap. There was a rope going from one tiny hole in the wall to the other. I squinted my eyes at it and then burned it with my laser. When it snapped, a boulder attached to a metal chain was sung down from the front and stopped in Nanya’s fist.
“Pathetic…” I mumbled.
We continued on with our exploration, but so far there were no signs of the previous adventurers. Since this wasn’t the typical rush to the core type of quest, we had to find and search all the rooms at each floor. We went lower only AFTER our search was over, but so far, no luck. I was seriously starting to think that the adventurers may have died and got swallowed along the way.
This, however, changed when we reached the 54th floor.
“Look! Over there!” shouted Nanya as she pointed towards the other side of a room filled with spikes and angry imps.
“I see him!” I said and rushed over.
“BUGA!” shouted an imp as it tried to attack me.
The poor little thing was brutally stepped on like an insect and squashed under my foot. Nanya slapped into the ground all those attacking her, while Shanteya and Ayuseya cut them with their weapons. When I reached the other side of the room, I managed to get quite a bit of aggro on myself, and three bigger imps placed themselves between me and the human warrior.
“Fine! You asked for it!” I said and then rushed to the first one.
The world around me slowed down to an incredible degree. I saw everything in slow motion, but I was moving much faster than human eye could see. It was thanks to my enhanced body that I was capable of something like this. A single slap was enough to finish off these three, and the others behind me were killed when I turned around and released a laser beam at them.
In less than a minute, all the imps in the room had been exterminated.
“That was a lot of them!” said Ayuseya surprised as she wiped the blood off of her sword.
“It was most likely a trap room.” I pointed out.
“Indeed, but I don’t see any summoning circles.” said Shanteya.
“These are bred.” pointed out Nanya.
“I always wondered how dungeons bred them.” I said absentmindedly as I looked down at the dead corpses.
“They bind females of other species and allow the imps to mate with them. Usually a human woman would produce around 20 or 30 imps per year.” Nanya explained.
“That doesn’t sound right.” I said squinting my eyes at her.
“Unfortunately, that’s the truth.” she sighed and shook her head. “At least for imps.”
“Minotaurs and other species simply breed among themselves but only if the dungeon can sustain the summon period for their gestation and nobody kills them. Imps and Goblins are the only exception.” Shanteya added.
“Great…” I said and then looked back at the warrior in front of me.
The man had been dead for a few days now, but the dungeon had yet to consume him. I knew for certain that if it did, the body would vanish, leaving behind only the gear. There were also all of these imps around, who didn’t try to cook or eat him in any way. This could have happened only if the dungeon ordered them not to do so.
But why would it? I asked myself as I got up.
“He’s been killed by blunt force to the back of the head.” said Nanya.
“Was he murdered?” I asked.
“No, I suspect the imps did it. They entered this place, the party was overwhelmed and one of them attacked him when they managed to shatter his Magic Armor.” the demoness explained as she started searching his pockets for any mission missive or something like that.
“These things?” I asked surprised picking up the body of a dead imp.
“We are at floor 54, Master. If it was the me from before I became yours, I can assure you that this little fellow would have been strong enough to kill me.” Shanteya told me with a soft smile, but I found it hard to believe.
Either I was so strong I couldn’t see the difference or these guys were weaker than even she could tell. I was honestly betting on the latter because I didn’t see anything so far worth using even 2% of my power. Then again, if the first one was true, I can understand now why Dankyun sort of strolled around my dungeon like that, but most importantly, why everyone was so shocked by my easy dungeon floor.
To them, it would have been a nightmare worthy of lower floors, not the first one. I was the only dungeon who didn’t follow the basic rules, who instead of luring the adventurers in, I blasted them in the face with challenge after challenge.
This makes me wonder about how powerful a 100 floor dungeon would be if I were to build it with my current knowledge? Should I also lure them in and slowly destroy or drain their powers? I think I’ll actually make one just for giggles, but my first priority when it comes to building something serious is an Academy… as soon as I understand the ins and outs of this world. Everyone can build a building and say its a school, but actually nurturing young minds on a certain path, that’s something not many can do, and I want to do that! I thought to myself, but while I was lost in thought, the girls left me there.
“Huh?” I blinked surprised when I saw them gone. “Hey! Wait for me!” I cried after them.

The big difference between a city and the countryside, besides the ability to actually see the stars in the sky during nighttime, was the scent of clean, oxygenated air. The soft breeze was the first thing that caught Anwen’s attention. It carried the mixed scent of trees and grass. As he took a deep breath in and then exhaled softly, a shiver of delight traveled down his spine, awakening his senses. His body rejoiced in a feeling it had never had the chance of experiencing before. For a moment, Anwen actually forgot everything around him. Read More →
The sun was setting, and classes were over. Looking out the window, I let out a long sigh.
“Is anything the matter, master?” asked my beautiful el’doraw slave, Shanteya.
She was standing at the entrance of the girl’s bathroom on the first floor. With a broom in her hands and the maid dress Nanya gave her, she really looked like the busty beautiful elf maid I often saw in animes and mangas. Just thinking that I could order her to do anything I wanted made my perverted mind reach a whole new level.
Bad brain! Bad! I need to focus now, not fantasize, besides… if I dare to order her something like that, I’m sure both Nanya and Tuberculus will send my sorry crystal behind to the Dungeon Core Dungeon! I let out a sigh again and then looking back at Shanteya, I replied “I was just thinking about how quickly and peacefully these past two weeks went by…”
“Of course, master! After all, that day it was I who properly informed all the teachers here of what to look out after. As long as the assassins don’t see any openings, they won’t dare to attack. Besides, Master also tripled his Dungeon Territory! Even if they were to attack, you would sense them long before they reached this building, giving us plenty of time to organize a counter attack.” Shanteya said with a proud look on her face.
“True… I can sense the occasional monster trying to sneak in, but Nanya or another teacher usually handles it. But still…” I let out another long sigh.
“What is it, Master?” she asked with a worried voice.
“I’m not upset about that, but… you know… why is it that the most important job I got, up until now, was to repair broken walls, and now this?” I asked lifting up a plunger and a metal brush with a very long handle.
“Because the Merion monsters clogged the toilets and you destroyed the sewers?” she replied a bit confused.
“It was an accident!” I retorted raising my voice a little.
“I apologize, master.” Shanteya quickly said as she lowered her ears and bowed her head, believing she had said something wrong.
“No, sorry… ugh! You don’t need to apologize, you are right, it was my fault… But, you know… those little black furry buggers scared me when they popped out like that from the sewers! I thought we were under attack!” I explained myself, unfortunately, I couldn’t bonk my head on the wall.
The Merions were small, black, furry, round, hyperactive monsters. Some worlds had Slimes or Goblins, this one had Merions. Easiest monster to kill, easiest to capture, easiest to tame, and above all the most disgusting one in the entire Shoraya Kingdom. They were disgusting little critters that lived in the sewers of cities and consumed all sorts of waste. In a way, they were a big help, but when they were in their mating season, they bred worse than bunnies. Initially, we only had four, unfortunately, Tuberculus bought three females and one male instead of all females or all males. Now we had over one hundred of them. The pipes were clogged with their fur and catching them wasn’t an easy job. The little buggers were fast and jumped all over the place.
Who would believe that a Godlike Dungeon Lord like myself got scared by those pathetic little things?! Sigh… then again, I was in the wrong for throwing a 500 Magic Energy Points Fireball in there. Note to self: methane plus fire is not a good combo! I thought as I continued to scrub and unclog the remains of the monsters from the pipes.
Four hours later, we were finally done, at least with two bathrooms. The following day was round two of scrubbing duty. It was Saturday, so I had to finish things up before the students returned on Monday. Finding the bathroom covered in Merion hair and remains wasn’t pleasant, especially since some of them were said to be delicate ladies.
“Let’s call it a night…” I said with a yawn as I dropped the brush and plunger.
“As you wish, master.” said the pretty el’doraw maid.
Like a polite gentleman, I walked her all the way to her room. Although I was against it, Tuberculus decided that Shanteya was to sleep in the same room as her other master: Nanya. That way, none of the other teachers had any complaints, and the noble students could feel safe.
“Good night, Shanteya.” I said.
“Good night, master.” said Shanteya, who bowed politely and then closed the room.
If I was quiet, I could enter the room and watch her undress. Seeing a lovely elf maid slowly take off her clothes before your eyes is every man’s dream, right? Unfortunately, I had to be the idiot with principles, so I flew away and let my imagination tease me with what I might have missed.
After doing another perimeter check, I returned to my crystal body and let out a deep sigh.
“Is this how my life is going to be from now on?” I asked myself as I looked at the floor.
It turned out that even though I had a floating crystal as a body, I still needed my beauty sleep. So, when everyone went to bed, I also tuckered up inside my Inner Mind. If anything dangerous entered my territory, my ability would immediately let me know about it. By the way, it had a 3 km (1.86 miles) radius now, give or take 100 m (109 yd).
Thinking back, I really miss playing on my PC, browsing the net, looking at the latest TV series, reading some web novels or mangas. I couldn’t say I was unhappy with my past life… Sigh, and I nearly finished that game too… and what about my progress? My levels? My 100% save games! I thought as depression slowly made its way into my heart.
To avoid the demon, I shook my head and thought back at what happened during the past two weeks. There were still a lot of things I wanted to try in this world, but lack of levels and means through which I could level up limited my choices. To level up, I had to kill intruders on my dungeon territory, be them monsters or not. The stronger they were, the better, but I could also go through the slower and more peaceful process of building things and consuming remnant magic energy on my territory. Basically, the more spells the students and teachers cast, the better it was for me. The downside was the repair bill…
During the first week, I poured Magic Energy into my Dungeon Territory whenever I had nothing to do. It reached its current size in just three days. I stopped there because I feared I wouldn’t be able to control it that well. After that, I just practiced making rooms under the ground. They never mentioned anything about building underground labyrinths. Of course, mine was just a few rooms long and 10 meters under the ground. There were no traps or summoning circles in there either. Basically, it was a closed-off area where only the moles could enter.
On another note, during these past two weeks, I also learned something new, besides the fact that Nanya favored white panties. Ahem! First of all, my species and all: I was a Godlike Dungeon Lord, not Dungeon Core. Secondly, all the female students at the academy were voluptuous ladies past the age of 18 and under the age of 24. Only elf, draconian, and demonic ones were slightly older. As for the males, they were the same. The Magic Academy was an adult only area, which meant in short… that I could peek at their lovely mountains and hills as much as I desired! They weren’t minors! There were no restrictions! It was perfect! Unfortunately, I was also part gentleman… As a former citizen of Romania, my morals and ethics wouldn’t let me get so low as to peep at them while getting changed or bathing. If they were in some sort of relationship with me, then I was sure to be ‘Banzai Ahead!’, but I wasn’t. How unfortunate of me… I was invisible. No one could detect me. A Heaven of mountains and valleys was just a wall away, and there I was crying because of another world’s principles.
Tuberculus, on the other hand, had no such restraint…
During the second week after the failed assassination attempt, I found him sneaking behind the Dormitory after dark. Without saying a word, I followed him. The old man found a very decent spot for sneaking a peek at the girl’s bathing room. The sight was gorgeous! All those up and down valleys, the smooth skin gently washed by pure maiden hands. It was paradise! Unfortunately, I had to play my part as a gentleman. After I had a good looong look, I spotted Shanteya and Nanya. They both looked so beautiful and dazzling together, but thinking that the old pervert could look at the same view as me, irritated me for some reason.
Like a bad actor, I called out to him as though I had no idea what was happening “Oh? Principal Tuberculus! What are you doing all the way up here? Did something break in the girl’s bathroom?”
“Huh? Dungeon Lord?” he asked surprised.
“Each and every one of you… GO DIE!” shouted Nanya as she cast a Fireball at the old geezer.
I smirked quite pleased of myself when I saw the old man flying through the air a few feet away from the window. Unfortunately, he survived. The following day I was to find out that he was a repeat offender.
“Illsy? Are you here?” growled Nanya as she looked out the window, bare-chested too.
“Nanya! The Holy God of Big Breasts approves!” I said with a smile on my invisible face and two thumbs up.
They weren’t as big as Shanteya’s, but let’s face it, a beautiful woman is beautiful no matter her cup size.
Later that day, I received a crack on my crystal body as a result of Nanya’s punch… It hurt.
In the Magic Academy, classes usually started around 10 AM and continued until 4:00 PM. At 10:00 PM, everyone was in the dormitory except the appointed patrols. There wasn’t any lunch, just breakfast and dinner, however, they ate plenty. There was a garden behind the main school building, where most of the students spent their time chatting or reading. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were seen as free days when the students were allowed to go outside of the school ground and travel to the nearby cities. The Academy itself was quite remote, almost two hours away by horse carriage from the nearest human settlement: Therion City. Speaking of which, I could hear the days of the week as I did back on Earth, but their names were actually different: Parus, Neyon, Elu, Shian, Ey, Eya, Eyabi.
When I discovered that small fact, I did a bit of research. Apparently, thanks to my reincarnation process, my primary three languages were sort of fused together. I mostly thought in English because I always indulged myself in gaming, movies, and TV shows. Romanian was left for the complicated explanations, such as the creation of the Universe as viewed from the philosophical point of view of a duck on top of a barrel. As for Japanese, while I wasn’t reading anything in Kanji, Hiragana, or Katakana, I was hearing the honorifics from time to time. The Shoraya language also had similar honorifics, but fewer. Thus, I had -san, -sama, -chan, and -kun, however, I could only hear them IF I wanted to. In all other cases, I either didn’t hear them at all or heard them with their actual meaning. When it came to the word ‘master’, it never turned to ‘goshujin-sama’. The actual honorifics in the Shoraya language were Les for -kun/-chan, Tera for -san (or when addressing an elder), Leir for -sama (or whenever addressing someone of noble lineage), Kenyar for Sir (the other translation was knight), Zerun for Master.
When I tried to force my puny one cell brain into actually using the Shoraya honorifics, I ended up getting a terrible headache and accidentally summoning Nanya’s panties again. She was in the middle of class, so the sudden draft made her squeamish and fidgety. The fact that she wore a knee-length dress wasn’t in her favor either. Nonetheless, she properly rewarded me that day with two strikes on my crystal body. The cracks hurt like a [beep] [beep] of [beep] [beep]! Luckily, I had enough Magic Energy to heal myself, no spell was needed though, I just had to focus on the cracks, and that was it. I didn’t retaliate though, I sort of deserved it.
Guess that was how I spent most of my days at the Magic Academy. Whenever a student destroyed something thanks to him or her practicing magic, I ended up repairing it. Whenever I accidentally destroyed something, I ended up scolded by Tuberculus or Nanya. Whenever I had nothing to do, I worked on my secret labyrinth project. As for Shanteya, she was sticking around my crystal body most of the time, even when I wasn’t actually there and just wandered off. She acted like a proper maid, even wearing the costume. Apparently, that was her new official job: maid in the service of Illsyore, the Dungeon Lord of Magic Academy Fellyore. She wasn’t a slave, she was a maid, therefore, lewd orders were strictly forbidden. Also, from time to time, I was listening in on some of the classes and tried to learn new spells, that was how I learned [Wind Blow], a simple spell with which I could create a small breeze. Add 1000 Magic Energy Points and pop goes the Hurricane! Shanteya stopped me from trying it out…
The interesting part about all those spells was that I never needed to use the complicated chants, just the voice command listed in my ability screen. After that, I just infused it with the exact amount of Magic Energy Points I wished. These two things weren’t unique to me though. Apparently, Nanya could also cast most of her spells without using complicated long chants and even infuse them with Magic Energy. She didn’t use points, just the feeling of amount. It was like trying to fill a glass of water blindfolded. After a few trials, you could tell by the weight and sound that it filled up. Shanteya was also able to use mid-chants, meaning she could shorten the chant of a spell. Technically speaking, anyone could end up at Nanya’s level if they practiced long enough and learned to have a good feel for their spells. Humans usually died of old age before they learned it unless they were prodigies. As for me, I was the lucky idiot who picked the Godlike race…
And with that, this one, the Dungeon Lord Illsyore, who is not a girl by the way, formally ends this report regarding his first few weeks as a Magic Academy… I thought while reminiscing about the past few days.
“Illsy? Have you seen Tuberculus? I want to remind him what happens to old bones when you bend them the wrong way.” said the teenage looking teacher as she walked into my room.
“Erm… Flower pot to the left, down the hallway.” I replied after doing a quick search over my Dungeon Territory.
“Thank you.” she said with a smile. “Oh! And tomorrow night we’re going to have a drinking party, just us the teachers. Shanteya will join me, and I would like you to build us something nice, out in the open, with a good view of the sky. Can you do that?” she asked me.
“Sure, what’s the occasion?” I asked surprised.
“Tuberculus is pregnant with my baby. Talk to you later, I got an old geezer to destroy for trying to peep on the girls changing room, again!” said Nanya right before she left.
“I see, it’s a beautiful thing… Hm, so Tuberculus is… wait? Tuberculus? What the…” my brain failed to process the information.
I know this is a fantasy world, but… Nah! Nanya’s just pulling my leg! Right? Right? I asked myself as I looked a the opened door. Somewhere in the building a loud explosion was heard followed by the cries of pain and begging of an old pervert.
Note from the Author: Here it is, the first chapter of the new arc! It’s a bit of an intro chapter, but hope you all liked it. 🙂 As always, thank you very much for reading my story! Seeing that so many people are interested in this makes me really happy, and I do hope I will be able to create something amazing for all of you! Regarding the other web novel I’m writing, don’t worry, it’s not dropped, I was just a bit overwhelmed these past few days.
Regarding the Poll in the previous chapter, it’s going to stay up for a while longer.
Let me know what you think of the Merion! And also a small poll for you all regarding the future monsters. Right now, I’m opting for BOTH classical and new monsters! 🙂 Depending on the results, I’ll reorganize the Fauna and Flora of the continents.
[This is Shanteya Dowesyl. I tried my best to draw her, but I’m not a mangaka or a very good sketch artist. If anyone wants to do better version, let me know 🙂 ]
[Shanteya’s point of view]
A pack of monsters of Master rank and a knight escort reduced our numbers from 40 to 25. I suffered the most injuries out of all of them, but I could still run, I could still fight, I could still kill if ordered to.
After we entered the Academy’s grounds, it was hard for me to keep up. I was among the last, so when we came under attack, I was also the last to take cover. Unlike the others, who hid behind trees, I took cover behind a big boulder. I heard their screams echoing through the forest and then our leader’s order to stay put. The strategy was simple: hide in the darkness, wait until the enemy showed himself and then attack, but we didn’t get the chance to do so, the last attack struck us with its full might.
Following a bright light and a powerful explosion, I closed my eyes and covered my ears, but then a painful heat licked over my back, and I could feel the scent of burning flesh. It was something I knew all too well, but I didn’t realize that I was the one to blame for it. Pushing myself up, I tried to stand and get away from there, but if I did, I would disobey the orders…
He told me to stay put, but how could I do so? It was hot, painful, and frightening.
I have to get away… I have to… I told myself as I got up and stepped forward.
Like a fierce lightning striking down a tree, pain surged through my body from head to toes. My muscles tensed, and I stood there with opened eyes and mouth, but I had no voice, only air came out.
It hurts… It hurts… I cried inside.
It was the Curse of Obedience. My will to flee, my actions themselves activated it, but I didn’t care. With just one more step, if I could run away and save my life, then I could return to the master of the guild and beg him to stop the countdown before it killed me.
I have to get away… I thought, but the lack of air was getting to me, the terrible heat was boiling me alive, and the pain of my broken bones was terrible.
Was there any chance for me to get away? Could I, the Broken Doll of the Phantom’s Rage guild, be saved? But by whom?
I-I can’t… I thought one last time before I felt my strength slipping away and fell on my knees.
My sight was blurred, pain crippled my senses, and there, in the middle of that fiery inferno, I fainted…
I know not how much time passed as I laid there crippled, burned, hurting, and suffering from more things than I could count, but such was my life. I was the Broken Doll. Strangely though, the heat slowly faded and my lungs didn’t hurt anymore. Then came a chill, and I was forced to wake up by a stranger’s voice.
Surprised, my body tensed, and I jumped back from the stranger’s voice, but I was too weakened. Falling back, I moved my hand to stop my fall, but I touched the boulder behind me, it was burning hot. It hurt, and I opened my mouth to scream, but it was nothing but a poor reflex left there ever since I lost my voice.
I stepped away from the boulder and looked around surprised.
I definitely heard a voice just now. An enemy? I asked myself as I reached for my dagger.
Looking around, I focused my senses, but I couldn’t feel any sign of someone else alive in that burning hell. An el’doraw’s ears were capable of picking up all sorts of high and low sounds. We could hear much better than a regular human, allowing us to be the best hunters in a forest, yet within the fiery inferno, I could only hear the gentle tune of the embers as they set loose a dance of flames. There wasn’t even a single heartbeat. There was no scent that my nose could pick up or shadow my eyes could catch. I was alone there.
Then I heard him speak to me again, I flinched. It was a man, but he was so close to me.
A Mage? No… If even I can’t sense him, then maybe an High Mage? Maybe an adventurer of Master or Emperor rank? Is it possible? I asked myself as I looked towards the voice, but besides sound, there was nothing there.
As for his words, the threat was clear. I nodded slowly, maybe a bit timidly.
“Can’t speak?” he asked me.
The voice sent a shiver down my spine. I was an assassin, that much was clear. Most likely all of my comrades have been wiped out. As the last one, the logical thing would be to keep me for info, but without a voice, there was no way I could spill even a single secret. I didn’t want a repeat of Halevale Fortress… To be touched by so many men and forced to do such horrible things. If not for them underestimating my mental strength and my lack of ability to bear children, I may not have been able to set myself free. Although, I still held a couple of scars from back then, when they tried to torture me through pain.
“I’m going to take your silence as a no.” he spoke with a calm voice.
I looked up, and my glance of worry betrayed my inner fears. How could I stop him from killing me or sending me off as a toy for his men? Injured, cursed, burned, and probably bleeding as well, I had no way out. The fires would consume me if he let them.
A slow death through rape and torture… or burned alive by the fires of this forest? I asked myself as I looked at the ground and lowered my dagger.
What was I even trying to do with that little blade? I couldn’t fight against the one who so easily destroyed the entire assassination force meant to kill the forth princess of the Teslov Kingdom. I was alone… My fate was in his hands, but it was one I could already foresee.
The man spoke again, but this time, it was an offer. When I heard him, I couldn’t believe my ears. He was willing to spare my life, but at what cost?
A slave? But at least I will be free… No, am I allowed to be free? Can being a slave be called free? I’m an assassin, the Broken Doll of Phantom’s Rage. I can’t let him deceive me… If he killed my comrades, then he surely must know of who we are by now. For him to be able to intercept us like that, there’s no other explanation! But then… that means I was spared? Why? And he’s asking me to be his slave? What does it mean? Ah, my curse… I have less than three days to return to the guild, otherwise… If I don’t accept to be his slave, he will kill me like he did the rest of us. To have a chance to escape… yes. Yes! I must accept to be his slave, then when the opportunity reveals itself, I’ll flee from his grasp and run back to Phantom Rage. If I’m lucky, I’ll get there before the time’s up. That is unless my own body doesn’t succumb to its effects. How badly injured am I, I wonder? Will I make it? I thought hard about this, but I had to make up my mind.
I chose to be his slave. Clenching the hilt of the dagger and looking up towards the voice, I nodded. I was determined to go through with my plan, to survive. It was simple. Once I became a slave, I would take the first opportunity and flee. One day, no… even two days was enough time to find such a moment.
Something weird happened then. He thanked me with a calm voice.
Why? I asked myself a bit confused.
When he cast the spell. I heard a message in my head asking me if I wished to become Illsyore’s slave. Was that his name? I replied ‘Yes!’, then the spell was applied on my body. I felt shivers running up my spines and then a terrible burn around my neck. Closing my eyes, I struggled against the pain, but it didn’t last long.
I never heard of such a spell. I thought to myself.
Usually, a slave was given a magic collar by the slave owner, not asked if they wished to become one.
When I opened my eyes, I wasn’t in the forest anymore… I was alone in some sort of dark place. My body was glowing and floating? I was naked too, but I was there, alive, and I didn’t feel any pain. Still, I didn’t want to look at my own body… I felt repulsed by it… So many scars and bruises covered my skin. The bruises weren’t from the recent battle, but from the fun the men had with me the night before. I was an assassin who was also a woman, a female. My duty, just like that of my other sisters in the group, was to please the men when we were out on a mission, toys for their carnal desires.
No! This is bad… I don’t want to remember that accursed time! That moment when that man touched me! The moment when my nightmare began! I thought and screamed in my head, trying to keep those horrible memories from returning to me.
I didn’t wish to remember the moment when an innocent girl of only 10 was kidnapped from her home and forced to swear an oath to a dark god. I didn’t wish to let my body remember how that stranger stole my innocence and played with me like was nothing but a doll… I didn’t wish to remember the reason I gained the name of Broken Doll… Unfortunately, the nightmare repeated itself whenever a man embraced me, without exception. Night after night, my body was used, and I never fought back… I couldn’t, I was frozen…
Time passed slowly in that darkness. When I calmed down, I began to wonder if I was dead and awaiting the judgment of the gods.
Did the voice lie to me? I asked myself, but it mattered not now, so I closed my eyes and slowly drifted into a deep sleep. I was tired…
When I woke up, I saw a man standing in front of me. I froze.
Who is he? A human? But I don’t recognize him… He’s not part of the assassins… and… I followed his eyes. He was looking at my naked body. I forgot… I’m naked… Did he? Is he going to… I thought and then before I realized it, I slapped him as hard as I could.
The stranger flew back a couple of meters, but then I saw my little finger. It was bent in a weird way. With a single move, I cracked it back in its place and hid my hand from his sight.
Is it a broken bone? But I can’t feel any pain… I thought to myself and showed the man a smirk.
I didn’t really care if he saw me naked. My only wish was for him not to touch me, but if he was my master, then I had no choice but to obey. Looking down at him below the belt, the usual snake was nothing but a weakly worm. I unintentionally let out a snicker.
The man began to talk again, but his words were strange, yet his voice familiar. He spoke as though he was not a human. I glared at him, but then he told me something weird.
The king? Is he some royalty or maybe a demon? Where are we exactly? I asked myself, but I didn’t turn my head to look around just in case he attacked me again. Is he making fun of me? I don’t feel like that’s the case, but I’m not in pain, so where am I? I asked myself and while I was thinking that, I opened my mouth to see if I could say something. Only air came out, no sounds. My voice was gone even in that magical place.
His next comment angered me for some reason. Although I was used to being abused daily by men and used with satisfying their needs, this man alone was one which I didn’t wish to offer that pleasure. Clenching my fist, I tried to hit him, but he pulled back.
I can’t hit him… No, if this is his kingdom, if this is his realm, then it’s logical… I thought.
I pulled my knees to my chest and covered my behind with my palms. There was nothing around for me to wear, so that much was all I could do.
Does he enjoy toying with his women this way? I asked myself.
He moved away from me and then something strange popped up in front of him. I blinked surprised and watched what looked like a floating square glass. The characters, however, were strange, different, I didn’t recognize any of them even though I knew how to write and read in four different languages.
When he was done, he said something absurd about healing me. I blinked surprised, but I couldn’t believe his words. There was no one in the entire world who would wish to treat someone like me.
Suddenly, he began to act strange and moved closer to me. He was sluggish and looked sleepy. I tried to move back and avoid him, but he bumped into me. The stranger sank his face into my chest and closed his eyes without a care.
Wha-wha-what’s happening? What’s wrong with him? Does he finally want to do it? He… he’s asleep, isn’t he? I thought as I looked at him dumbfounded.
It was strange though, his embrace wasn’t like those of the men in my group. He didn’t hold me tight so I didn’t escape or tried to fight back. He didn’t restrain me. He simply hugged me gently, like one would a precious flower, but I was no flower, my body was ugly, it was filled with scars and defiled by many. Who would willingly hug one such as me? Yet, here he was, sleeping peacefully with his head on my chest and his arms wrapped around me like a lover would.
I could kill you right now, you know? I thought as I poked his cheek.
He grimaced and then bit my finger. I shivered, thinking it was gone, but then I felt a strange sensation, it was his tongue. He was licking my finger.
Uhn~ stop it… I pulled my finger out, and in return, he buried his face in my chest.
What’s wrong with him? This man… he… I sighed and gave up.
Looking at him sleeping so peacefully, I wondered what sort of fool he was. Why would he say something so stupid as healing me? Why did he save me and didn’t kill me?
I’m the assassin, you know? You don’t get cozy with an assassin like this… I thought as I gently stroked his hair.
I wondered just when did I start doing that. This man, this stranger, he looked so peaceful embracing me, so gentle, so calm, but at the same time open to any sort of attack. Was he purposely showing me his weak side or was he naturally weak like this?
All the men who hugged me until now, they did so only to satisfy their carnal desires. When they were done, I was cast aside like a disposable rag. That was how I expected this man to act with me, yet… instead of that, I ended up embraced and held in his arms while he slept peacefully.
Do you feel safe with me? Why are you like this? I wanted to ask, but as soon as my lips parted, there was no voice.
With a soft smile on my lips, I wrapped my arms around him and closed my eyes.
Even if I don’t know what he plans on doing with me next… this feeling, this emotion… it’s pleasant. I like it. I wonder… is this how it is to be with a man who treats you gently? A lover, not a brutal destroyer? It’s such a shame that once he will wake up, he will turn into a beast… He will destroy me… and then cast me aside like all the rest did, but maybe… just maybe… living in this illusion for a moment is all that I need? with this last thought, I fell asleep with him in my arms.
At that time, I had no idea how much I would come to love this stranger who slept so gently in my arms, nor did I know he was my master, Illsyore. After all, that was a girl’s name…
Note from the Author: So I noticed the sudden spike in views and number of people reading this novel. I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for taking a look! It means a lot to me, and I hope I’ll be able to write a lot more chapters for this novel together with you all! 😀 So thank you! Thank you very much for dropping by and taking a look!
Dropping a Like on these chapters, giving it a Share or linking it on forums, spreading the news about the existence of my novel could help me a lot! So Thank You! if you do so!
Now, a little bit about this chapter! It was a very difficult chapter to write and even now I’m not too sure if I got it right. I don’t want to make Shanteya the tragic queen or damsel in distress, but she does have a very nasty past. If you have some constructive critique to offer about it, I won’t mind listening to it, in fact, it might actually help :)).
I’ve been wondering whether or not I should call this as Chapter 10 or not. It could even be taken out and dropped between Chapter 8 and 9. I just need to do a bit of chapter renaming. In general, Side Stories will be similar to this one, meaning showing the point of view of one character or more in certain situation that either happen in the background of the main story or to take a different look at a previous event, like this one. These are meant to be a bit more serious because our MC is a bit too chillaxed at times.
Anyway, it would be a great help if you could let me know your opinions regarding this: Keep the current form: A few chapters + side story (like in Mushouku Tensei from where I got the idea of this sort of structure) or only chapters.
